使用的四环素很少关联的肝毒性。组织脂肪变化的肝脏、肝酶升高和黄疸已有报道，主要是在接受治疗的患者使用大剂量静脉注射盐酸四环素(不再在美国)，但也在患者接受高剂量的口服这些药物。治疗的四环素应给予谨慎地在患有先前存在的肝脏疾病或胆阻碍。降低的剂量可能是合适的，特别是与米诺和强力霉素，因为前者是代谢的肝脏和后者的经历肝肠回收利用。肝功能测试的建议之前和期间的治疗，并伴随使用的其他潜在铅中毒的药品应该避免。
